One of my favorite shoe trends for Spring/Summer 2015 is anything laced up. Today’s topic of discussion is a flat sandal with a simple ankle wrap, perfectly depicted by Isabel Marant. I searched high and low for more affordable versions and this is the best I could do this early in the season. I am pretty confident that Zara and other brands will come out with their affordable versions in the coming months but if you can’t wait, here are some great options. I think the K. Jacques ones look so chic, are of incredible quality and cost just over half the price of the Isabel Marant’s. Sold!
It’s been a long and slow process but Project Playroom is finally complete. This remodel was a fun collaboration with paint company, Colorhouse. Their low odor paints contain no VOC’s, no reproductive toxins, no chemical solvents, and no toxic fumes (HAPs free). I know that’s a mouthful but to sum it up, if you care about your health and the health of those in your home (particularly any little ones), this is the paint to use.
I selected a soft pink (sprout .06) for most of the room and then used chalkboard paint (nourish .06) to accent one wall. Stay tuned…I have a special discount for colorhouse paints at the bottom of this post!

Once the decals were up, I drew faces on them using permanent marker. It does not leak through to the wall at all.

Been searching high and low for the perfect sneakers and I’ve finally found them. I was looking for a sleek, chic, clean looking pair that looked more at home on the street than at the gym. These New Balance 410’s in black and white fit the bill. An added bonus is that they are unbelievably comfortable. Wear with skinny jeans and your longline cardigans or with a calf length straight skirt and sweater. Also perfect for running around with the kids in a pair of ripped jeans and a striped sweatshirt.

I love a good smock dress for summer. When it’s sweltering outside, I don’t want thick denim shorts (no matter how short) or anything remotely fitted. A smock dress in a super lightweight, breezy cut is the way to go. Add a fringed bag for more movement and interest and a simple, strappy pair of sandals and you’re summer ready! Bonus points for something turquoise! And if you’re sporting a baby bump this summer like me, a smock dress is a great maternity option as well!

Dressing up the bump can be challenging especially when most of the maternity dresses out there seem to err on the side of matronly. Like my previous pregnancies, I rely heavily on non-maternity fashions from affordable shops like Forever 21, ASOS, and TOPSHOP. They help get me through the nine months in high style but with a low budget.
I got this ASOS floral dress in a larger size than I normally would to accommodate my expanding mid-section (and okay let’s be real, expanding everything else too…) I love the romantic print on this dress and how the feminine florals contrasts with the deep plunge and curve accentuating fit. If this dress were in vixen red, I wouldn’t go near it because it would feel too “in your face sexy” to me. This print balances out the spiciness with more acceptable prettiness. Perfect combination. Did that make any sense to anyone??
