A few months ago, America’s Best Racing invited us to spend a day at our local race track. You can click here to read about that day. It ended up being such a fun and memorable afternoon that when they asked me to host a Breeder’s Cup Watch Party, I agreed.
Pictured above is the main table set up for the watch party. Purple and gold are the official Breeder’s Cup colors so I used that as a jumping off point for the party decor.
I ordered a variety of cupcakes from my favorite Chicago bakery (Sweet Mandy B’s) and topped them with these festive cupcake flags. The flags were a super easy DIY project. Simply cut out decorative paper (in the party colors if possible) and fold them over a toothpick. Glue the 2 sides together and then cut out the ribbon edge.
A party guest brought over these beautiful fascinators from Indulge, a local boutique here in Chicago. All were priced at around $40-$70, which we thought were great prices for such chic pieces. If you’re in the market for a fascinator in Chicago, definitely check out Indulge Boutique at 110 E. Delaware Place.
The party guests ranged from avid horse race enthusiasts to people that had no idea what the Breeder’s Cup was. Watching together definitely got us all excited and into the race. Congratulations to Mucho Macho Man for the big win!
This party was probably not something I would have thrown on my own but it ended up being one of the more memorable and entertaining evenings I’ve had in awhile. Sometimes, it’s nice to do something a little different and find out, you really like it!
