Mules: THE shoe to buy now!

Anja-Rubik-layered-up-open-knit-polished-off-her-blackModel Anja Rubik from Harper’s Bazaar magazine

The picture above was ripped from the pages of my Harper’s Bazaar and currently resides with the other things that inspire me on my bulletin board.  When I first saw it, I couldn’t pinpoint what I liked about the look, I just liked it.  But the more I looked, the more I saw.  A tangle of fringe and mesh layered over a girly frock, the grommet heavy drawstring bucket bag and those Mules!  I knew then that the hunt for the perfect mules had begun.

Mules are THE shoes to buy now because they offer a decent amount of coverage and can take you and your resilient toes from Spring through Summer and all the way into Fall.  Get them now to wear with cropped pants on that one warm winter day and all throughout the rest of the year.  The edgy style will instantly bring your looks into 2014 in the most effortless way.

Pretty in Pink

From L to R: Isabel Marant, Burberry Prorsum, Balmain, Giorgio Armani

Head to toe pink looks were all over the runways for Spring/Summer 2014 and I am loving every frilly, frothy bit of it.  Keep the cuts fresh and modern and pair with metallic, edgy or masculine shoes and accessories to minimize looking like you raided your 5 year old’s closet.

Here are some of my favorite pink pieces on the market now!

Everything old is new again and currently, the 90’s are in the spotlight.  Everything from birks to doc martens to flannel shirts are back and this 90’s chick is so wishing she had saved her high school wardrobe.  Floral slip dresses were also huge back then and I remember wearing mine with a whisper thin t-shirt underneath.  Do you guys remember that?

I love the sophisticated winter floral print on this slip dress and the longer hemline with side slits.  I can’t wait to wear this all summer long with flat sandals or cutout booties and some thin layered necklaces.  In the meantime, I layered over the dress with a classic cable knit sweater and my favorite leather jacket.  The studded Alexander Wang Rockie bag is the perfect addition to add a little bit of rock n roll to this look.

Spring Trend 2014: Mesh

I think we can all agree that the athletic look is in for Spring.  Think tennis dresses, sleek varsity jackets and track pants.  Of all these, one sporty style stands out the most and that is none other than MESH!  Seen on the runways at Milly, Emilio Pucci, Rebecca Taylor, and so many others, nothing seems more fresh and right now than adding some fun mesh into your wardrobe.

I love the idea of a tight, long sleeved mesh shirt peeking out from under a voluminous short sleeved dress.  And now you can find many chic tops and dresses with very wearable mesh details and at every price point.  I mean, this blush pink ASOS sweater styled so perfectly with the ripped boyfriend jeans.  Sort of sums up how I plan to look this Spring.
