beanie black pink coat

I knew I wanted a pink coat from when I saw so many frothy versions float down the Celine and Carven runways almost a year ago.  If you’ve been reading, you’ll have seen my post on Pastel Coats here.  And, if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I found a sweet vintage version back in August at The Antique and Resale Shoppe, my treasure trove of choice.  And as if I don’t love this store enough, the coat was sold to me for a cool $24.

Since the coat is very pink and very oversized, I wanted to pair it with an edgier ensemble.  I wore my new high waist jeans.

Wait can we pause and discuss these for a minute?  My friend C clued me in to these AMAZING BDG jeans and I am obsessed.  They are super flattering, very affordable and feature a really high waist so you can wear all your crop tops without really having to show any skin.  If you just read all the reviews, you’ll see how popular these jeans are.  My friend, C has 2 pairs and talks about how she wants them in every color and I completely get it now.  If you’re in the market for high waisted skinny jeans, definitely give these a try.

Okay…getting back on track.  I paired the aforementioned jeans with a Nicholas K top I scored at Roslyn Boutique and my favorite new vintage necklace (okay fine, it’s from Zara.)  Add a cool beanie and some shades and the coat is the perfect topper to this edgy meets vintage look!

Gift Guide: For Him

Here’s a bunch of gift ideas for the men (plural because I’m including relatives and friends, not because you have several men you’re involved with. Although if you do, I’m not here to judge…you do you.) in your life. Special thanks to Mr. Dress Up Files who curated 85% of this list.

ugly christmas sweater holiday festive

I absolutely love this time of year.  The snowy days, the warm fires, Christmas trees and holiday traditions everywhere you turn.  You almost don’t even mind the frigid cold because it adds to the overall feel of the season and makes it that much cozier when you’re indoors.  Ask me in February what I think of the frigid cold and you may see some grown woman tantrums but that’s a whole nother story.

I don’t know if it’s the teacher in me but I’m a fan of the festive holiday sweater.  And while ugly sweaters are fun for themed parties, a cuter version is practical to wear all month long and for years to come.  So many stores are offering less ugly, more cute holiday sweaters these days.

Gift Guide: For HER

Whether you’re shopping for your sister, your mother or your girl friend, this is the “fun” gift to shop for. The one where you somehow end up with two of the same items and keep one for yourself too. I definitely enjoyed putting together this list and I hope you get some ideas from it too. I’ll be posting gift guides for HIM and for THE LITTLE ONES so stay tuned for those too!

Clearly I’ve been really into monochromatic looks as of late.  I just love that you can pull items you already own and turn them into a statement look just by sticking to one color.  Here I did stretchy cotton pencil skirt paired with a chunky sweater.  I got this sweater last winter from Forever21 and have worn it a ton.  People are constantly asking me where it’s from and I love telling them I got it at Forever21 for under $30!  I just checked and they still have it in stock and in 2 other colors too so check it out here!

The tweed coat was my sister’s find from Korea years ago.  Unfortunately for me, she moved far far away to Singapore.  Fortunately for me, I inherited all her winter clothes (including this trench!) that she would no longer be needing.  Bittersweet.
