It is almost October and us Chicagoans are preparing ourselves mentally and physically for the long, frigid winter ahead.  Over the last couple months, I’ve been sharing some of my favorite trends for the Fall (classic prints, pastel coats, and white & grey).  And here is the fourth installment of that series.

I am loving the look of fluffy knits for this Fall and Winter.  Think mohair, angora, cashmere or anything textured and fluffy!  I wore a summery version of this sweater to NYFW recently here.

Pair a cropped version with a high waisted pencil skirt.  Or wear an oversized sweater with a pleated leather skirt.  Leather leggings would look nice with all of these.  Also, I love a monochromatic look so pair anything in the same color tone as the sweater with matching shoes and bag for a big statement with color.

A few weeks ago, I posted on classic prints being on trend for Fall here.  This oversized, plaid vest by Rebecca Minkoff is a perfect example of this trend at work.  Here, I paired the vest with an all white (yes, I’m a little obsessed with the all white thing) outfit.  A old t-shirt and slouchy, distressed denim make a great, laid back base for this vest.

This vest could be worn so many ways.  Here are some other ways I would style this vest..
– With a vintagey slip dress, cut out combat boots, this preppy vest and a messy topknot
– With a skin tight body con dress and lace up booties for a night out.  In and of itself, that would be too scandalous for me personally but with the oversized, masculine vest, I love it!
– Wrap the vest closed (with nothing under), secure with a belt and pair with a flouncy skirt.

I could go on and on but I’ll stop here for today.  I’d love to hear your ideas too.  Would you wear this vest and how?

I put together another all white look for NYFW Day 2.  I know it’s on trend now but I was pleased to find so many all white looks coming down the runways for Spring/Summer 2014 as well!  The grid pattern on the top adds a lot of interest and breaks up the white.  I decided to use silver jewelry to keep the look really crisp and clean and of course, all the stacked necklaces were the piece de resistance.

This is what I wore to Day 1 of New York Fashion Week.  No, these pictures were not taken at the Lincoln Center but back home in Chicago.  I was so busy people watching and hopping around the city that I completely blanked on taking outfits pics during my entire trip.  Fashion blogger FAIL.

As you know, I love an all white look and I wrote here about how it’s in for the Fall.  For my first NYFW, I kept both of my looks completely white.  In this particular look, I was inspired by Celine’s Fall/Winter 2013 looks.  Sweaters, flared skirts and ankle boots.  To add some interest, I chose a sweater that had a lot of texture.  I can see myself wearing this outfit well into the winter here with a swingy coat.

Madewell Chicago Event

I just got back from my first New York Fashion Week on Sunday and I’m still reeling from the excitement of it all.  I will be posting a recap of my experience and highlights from the shows I attended later this week.  In the meantime, I wanted to post this invite to an event I’m cohosting with Madewell.

There will be some kind of cocktails, treats, and tons of Fall items to shop.  Please RSVP to my email listed in the invite with the number of people that will be attending.  Feel free to invite friends.  We’ll drink, snack, shop, chit chat and of course instagram our hearts out.  Hope to see you there!
